Setting up your online catalogue? Avoid these common mistakes 🤦🏼‍♀️

Flower peeps!

In today’s episode, I talk you through the most common mistakes designers make when they set up an online everyday flower catalogue.

The biggest mistake to avoid? Set up your catalogue to make it EASY for your TYPICAL CUSTOMER to buy.

Don’t get too cute. Don’t overwhelm them with choice. Don’t assume they know what they’re looking for.

Remember, your typical online customer could be my dad — knows nothing about flowers and doesn’t really care what you make but is happy to spend $150 in a heartbeat.

He just wants to be reassured it will make him look good and the process is EASY.

Setting sales targets the easy way 🎯

In today’s episode we’re talking about setting sales targets. I walk you through the process and give you a few guiding principles.

In a nutshell, your sales target should be focused, specific and measurable. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Set a total sales target
  2. Set your average order value
  3. Do the math to see how many orders that works out to be (#1 divided by #2)
  4. Then break the total number of orders needed in #3 down into bite size pieces — how many per month or per week

Let’s take everyday flowers on Mother’s Day as an example:

  1. Let’s say your sales target is $10,000
  2. Aim for $90 per order
  3. You’ll need 111 orders (#1 divided by #2)
  4. You don’t need to deliver 111 orders in one day – divide this out over 3 days and make it manageable for yourself: 37 orders per day is your Sales Target.

Mindset + pricing 💰

Have you ever stopped to wonder why selling online is WAY easier than in person?

It’s because the computer doesn’t struggle with its mindset. The computer doesn’t talk itself out of quoting the correct price for something.

It simply presents the price that was set by its master and lets the customer decide whether it’s of value or not.

No mind drama, no self-doubt.

In today’s episode we dig deeper into what your mind drama may be telling you:

1. What’s holding you back from charging ‘full price’? Do you believe your clients won’t pay that much? Or you’re not worth that much?

2. Do you believe in the value of the service you provide the world?

3. Do you know…for a fact…beyond the shadow of a doubt…that your clients cannot pay the prices you’re charging? Should you look for better clients?

Some better thoughts to think about managing your mindset on pricing:

  • Full price is the right price. Always.
  • People LOVE spending money.
  • Your clients WANT to spend money.
  • Get out of your own way.
  • And remember, you are a service provider or a LUXURY service. It is 100% worth it. You are 100% worth it. Always and in all ways.

Let’s talk more about anxiety 😜

Did you know your feeling of anxiety is actually caused by your thoughts?

It’s a simple idea: you feel anxious because you are thinking anxious thoughts.

So, you may be thinking some of these thoughts at the moment:

  1. I don’t know how long this is going to go on for
  2. Going outside the grocery store makes me anxious
  3. I’m getting zero inquiries
  4. Isolation with my stressed-out husband, homeschool 3 kids, and the climbing toddler is tough
  5. I’m worried about being unemployed and in debt
  6. I’m worried about keeping my parents safe

Here’s the real honest truth: all of these are optional thoughts — and they might be causing unnecessary, additional suffering.

We can’t control the current situation but we can control how we react to it, what we learn from it, how we grow from it. We are going to be changed people. Our business will change and have changed.

Your homework for today — play around with some different thoughts:

  1. I’m going to settle in for 12 weeks of this experience. This is my new normal for 12 full weeks.
  2. I have exactly the right amount of money.
  3. Good is going to come from this.
  4. I can do hard things.
  5. I am OK. My parents are OK.

Remember, we humans are an amazing species because we can control our own thinking. Try it out. Stay curious

Let’s talk about anxiety 😰

Hiya Flower Fairies,

I want to spend this week focused on anxiety — where it comes from, how it works and how to navigate it. Because as a business owner, it’s a feeling I can guarantee you will feel at some point, possibly right now.

What is anxiety? It’s a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome.

Here are some things you can do to manage anxiety:

1. Define your anxiety — how does it feel to you? Sit with it. Be with it. Allow it in. Quite literally what does it feel like to you.

2. Why do you feel anxious? What thoughts or ideas are spinning around in your head that is making you feel anxious?

3. Write them down. All those thoughts in your head, just barf them out on a piece of paper.

4. Don’t judge those thoughts or beat yourself up for feeling the way you do. The job ends when the paper is full. That’s it. You don’t even need to read it over. But you do need to fill an entire page. 1 full page.

I guarantee you will feel better. Just by going through this exercise.

Act as if…😍

Today I’m talking you through the idea of ‘acting as if’ (i.e. acting as if you own a successful flower business right now instead of waiting until you feel successful to then act like a successful business owner).

Have a beautiful day friends!

How to turn leads into revenue 💵

In today’s episode I’ll share the answer to a question that I get asked a lot — what is the secret to turning enquiries into live bookings?

It’s a false assumption to think you can just post a photo to your Insta feed and people will start throwing their money at you.

Not true. Customers will buy from you only after they believe three things:

KNOW YOU — found you on Instagram, from your website, referral from a friend or venue

LIKE YOU — like what they see, what you have to offer (aesthetic, actual formats etc)

TRUST YOU — know you are human, that if they hand their money over to you, you will deliver

How to feel confident with pricing 🎉

I used to think a lot of unhelpful thoughts when it came to setting my prices:

  • I can’t charge that much
  • I’m not worth it
  • I don’t have enough experience
  • My customers can’t afford to pay that much
  • I’m afraid I’ll come across as too expensive

Sound familiar?

To FEEL confident, you need to THINK a thought that makes you feel confident. Jump into today’s episode and let’s go deep into the mind bender that is pricing.
